Bout-of-Books readathon 10.0

So starting May 12th (this Monday, tomorrow to be exact) I will be joining the Bout-of-Books readathon. Which is bascially a one week all reading marathon.

“The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 12th and runs through Sunday, May 18th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 10 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team”

So, I decided why not! I am a slow reader though, so I have only chosen 2 books to read this week but I read comics pretty fast, so I also chose to read 3 comics aswell. I also have an exam in a week and I work like 3 times a week, so excuses, excuses. I really wish I was a fast reader, but my attention span is so low…I can tell you a secret. I feel so intimidated by people who can possibly read a book in like only a couple hours, and we’re talking books with 3-400 pages! Like, how!!? Tell me your secret, senpai!

Okay, so here are the books/comics I plan to read:

2. “Hex Hall” by Rachel Hawkins
3. Revival vol. 3
4. Chew vol.3
5. Nightwing The new 52 vol.1

As you can see I have decided to try out Rachel Hawkins, as I have not read anything by her. Rebel Belle has been very hyped lately and I just had to see what all the fuss is about. So, I started Rebel Belle yesterday and I am about 100 pages in, and I really like it so far. It is funny, fast paced and very creative. I love anything with a highschool theme that has that sort of edge to it. If you want to know what the book is about just look it up on Goodreads, I will also probably write a review on it here later. I also decided to finally start on the first book of the Hex Hall series which is also written by Rachel Hawkins. I thought why not to just keep going and finally start on this book you bought for like two years ago. This read-a-thon really woke me up to take a chance and read this book that I have put off for a long time and I have only heard great things. I am not a fan of books about witches, but I’ll give it a chance.

And also, the covers are gorg! And then finally the comics. I read a comic in like only an hour so I can easily get through the 3 I have handpicked for the marathon, but if I manage to read them all, I’ll also pick up the second vol. in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Well there you go. I am so happy to be participating and I hope I can get through them all in a weeks time! If you want to see my reading progress, follow me on my instagram: melissaeik

My bookshelf!

Well, well, well. Let me introduce you to the star of my blog. Of course my bookshelf. It’s packed at the moment, and I unfortunately had to reorganize the whole thing so that I could have more room for more books. So, I really hate the look of it right now, and I can not wait until I move into the new apartment in 7-8 months from now…who knows how many books I have bought by then….

ImageWell, here you have it! And yes, almost all the shelves are double stacked and I hate when the spines are set horisontal..I. HATE. IT. But, I do love my bookshelf dearly. I also recently counted that I own 122 unread books out of just over 300 owned books. As you see, I have a very bad book-buying problem.
