Bout-of-Books readathon 10.0

So starting May 12th (this Monday, tomorrow to be exact) I will be joining the Bout-of-Books readathon. Which is bascially a one week all reading marathon.

“The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 12th and runs through Sunday, May 18th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 10 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team”

So, I decided why not! I am a slow reader though, so I have only chosen 2 books to read this week but I read comics pretty fast, so I also chose to read 3 comics aswell. I also have an exam in a week and I work like 3 times a week, so excuses, excuses. I really wish I was a fast reader, but my attention span is so low…I can tell you a secret. I feel so intimidated by people who can possibly read a book in like only a couple hours, and we’re talking books with 3-400 pages! Like, how!!? Tell me your secret, senpai!

Okay, so here are the books/comics I plan to read:

ImageImage1. “Rebel Bell” by Rachel Hawkins
2. “Hex Hall” by Rachel Hawkins
3. Revival vol. 3
4. Chew vol.3
5. Nightwing The new 52 vol.1

As you can see I have decided to try out Rachel Hawkins, as I have not read anything by her. Rebel Belle has been very hyped lately and I just had to see what all the fuss is about. So, I started Rebel Belle yesterday and I am about 100 pages in, and I really like it so far. It is funny, fast paced and very creative. I love anything with a highschool theme that has that sort of edge to it. If you want to know what the book is about just look it up on Goodreads, I will also probably write a review on it here later. I also decided to finally start on the first book of the Hex Hall series which is also written by Rachel Hawkins. I thought why not to just keep going and finally start on this book you bought for like two years ago. This read-a-thon really woke me up to take a chance and read this book that I have put off for a long time and I have only heard great things. I am not a fan of books about witches, but I’ll give it a chance.

And also, the covers are gorg! And then finally the comics. I read a comic in like only an hour so I can easily get through the 3 I have handpicked for the marathon, but if I manage to read them all, I’ll also pick up the second vol. in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Well there you go. I am so happy to be participating and I hope I can get through them all in a weeks time! If you want to see my reading progress, follow me on my instagram: melissaeik

April Book-Haul

So, I managed to buy some books this month. Not some though, just 6 books, and 7 comics. Woopsies. But hey, you just can’t resist buying the book when the cover has oh I don’t know, Celaena Sardothian on it or Bilbo Baggins or you know Agustus Waters and Hazel Grace on it. See! I can’t handle myself, when the covers are so mindblowingly beautiful, you just gotta buy them, right?

But, out of everything I bought I had only read one of them before and that was “The Fault in our Stars”, I just couldn’t pass up on the movie tie-in. It was just too perfect and I had to have it. Plus, I cannot wait to re-read it before the movie premieres, I am going to cry so much, oh my god.

ImageHere they are, my April book-haul. I do usually buy alot of books each month but this month I splurged abit on comic books. I have wanted to read Saga for some time now, because my best friend read it and she just loved it! And said I would probably love it even more, i don’t know. It’s about this whole other universe with different races of something that looks like chimera, but also other races like the “bluebloods” who these weird manifestations or combinations of computerheads and human bodies, it sick! But the story and the graphic was just so good and so addictive. I read Vol. 1 yesterday and loved it!!! It was so imagineable, funny, loving and awesome to infinity! I reccomend it highly if you love wacky stuff that is just unimagineable to begin with!

ImageThere are only 3 Vol. out now, I’m going to read the rest tomorrow after my exam, and I can’t wait!! It’s going to be such a treat. So, you if ever see them in stores or at your local comic book store, just buy them!

When it comes to the other books and comics I bought, I just finished Dreams of Gods and Monsters, and I am considering writing a review about the trilogy, it’s just my memory sucks and I always just remembers bits and pieces when I finish a book. But the conclusion was perfect, that’s all I want to say right now. The Hobbit, Half-Bad, My life with the Walter boys and The Assassin’s Blade are going to be read, hopefully during May or the summer. I have read the first novella in the Assassin’s Blade (which by the way is a novella collection of stories about Celaena before Throne of Glss). And I started on Guardians of the Galaxy, I fell in love with the movie trailer and just had to buy the comics. Also I love Nightwing so much, and was so glad to stumble upon the New 52 series yesterday and had to buy it.

There you go my April Book-Haul. Next post will be my April Book Wrap up (Books I read in April)

My bookshelf!

Well, well, well. Let me introduce you to the star of my blog. Of course my bookshelf. It’s packed at the moment, and I unfortunately had to reorganize the whole thing so that I could have more room for more books. So, I really hate the look of it right now, and I can not wait until I move into the new apartment in 7-8 months from now…who knows how many books I have bought by then….

ImageWell, here you have it! And yes, almost all the shelves are double stacked and I hate when the spines are set horisontal..I. HATE. IT. But, I do love my bookshelf dearly. I also recently counted that I own 122 unread books out of just over 300 owned books. As you see, I have a very bad book-buying problem.

Good day fellow book lovers!

So, I’ll start with Introducing myself. My name is Melissa Eikeland. I am a Norwegianer who wishes to share my love of books to all of you who joins in on my blog. I currently study at the University in Stavanger, where I am taking by bachelors degree in English, and hopefully I’ll sooner or later become an english teacher in highschool. I also wish to take a year and study athletism and probably become a gym teacher aswell. Well, enough about the boring stuff. I’ll be posting about anything that has to do with books! Like, what I’m currently reading, bookhauls, shelf-tours, booktalks, and so on….I’ll probably be mostly influenced by some booktubers and see if I can get some top 5 this and answer some random questions that! This blog is about books, and books are so beautiful!!

Btw, have you guys caught up on the new cover-release of Sarah J. Maas newest book in the Throne of Glass series?? It’s spectacular, I love it!!!

Just look at that beauty. Celaena is one of my favourite heroines, she’s beautiful and kicks ass. What more do you want in a female protaginist, am I right?

Well, I hope those of you who read my blog, joins in my journey through the worl of beautiful books. I’ll see to it that I’ll blog at least two times a week.

And for those of you wondering: I am currently reading, “Dreams of Gods and Monsters” by Laini Taylor and it’s so good. If you haven’t had a chance to start on the Daughter of smoke and bone trilogy I highly reccomend you do it, but have patience, it’s a high fantasy book and if you get through them you’ll won’t regret it.
